A Will is a written declaration of your intentions as to the disposition of your property taking effect at your death. Typically assets set forth in the Will are probate assets and the Will provides the structure to govern and distribute the assets. Probate assets are those that are title in your name, and not having a beneficiary designation (for example life insurance or retirement accounts which typically have a beneficiary designated).

A Will is a revocable and amendable during your lifetime. A Will has no effect during one’s lifetime and only becomes enforceable at your death.
