COVID-19 Update

Thank you for contacting M&A Law Firm. The COVID-19 coronavirus situation has been rapidly evolving, and I wanted to take a moment to inform you as to the precautions M&A Law Firm is taking to ensure the health, safety, and sustainability of our clients and staff. I also wanted to take this opportunity to inform you as to the potential impact this may have on your legal matter this office is handling. 

Precautionary Measures: 

Our office, reception area and conference rooms are being wiped down frequently after a point of contact with disinfectant wipes. Additionally, we will stock our office with a supply for disinfectant for client and employee use. 

Our staff, based upon the viability of this approach to each position, may be encouraged to work remotely as a precautionary measure. 

Impact Upon Your Legal Matter:

If you have a litigation matter that has a court date occurring within the next 30 days (March 17 - April 15), your case may be impacted. Cook County courts have announced limited operations for the next 30 days by court order. A link to the general court order can be viewed here: Cook County Court Closures 

This includes cases including but not limited to: civil litigation matters, foreclosure actions, eviction cases. Please note, if there is a matter that has an emergency hearing, such as filing for a stay of a judicial sale in a foreclosure action, we will still likely be able to have your matter heard by filing an emergency basis by motion. 

At this time, Real Estate Closings are continuing as scheduled. Our title company partners have sent out communications detailing the rigorous precautions they are taking to ensure a safe and clean environment to close on the purchase or sale of your property. Our firm as well as many title companies are also encouraging clients who are concerned about limiting interactions to inquire with us about remote closings, via email or with a power of attorney. In the event that you do need to attend a closing, such as transactions where you are a buyer and are also obtaining a mortgage, we strongly recommend that only parties who will be executing documents attend closings. 

Finally, due to precautions we may take, including allowing some staff to work remotely or limiting office hours, this may slow down our response time to phone calls and emails. During this time, we are grateful for your continued confidence, and thank you for your collaboration and understanding during this difficult time. 

Finally, if you have a matter that is truly of an urgent nature, please indicate so by including the phrase "Urgent" in the subject matter and it will be prioritized accordingly. You may also rest assured that if you are a party to a contract that contains a contingency (financing, inspection, etc.) and we have been unable to communicate with you prior to the expiration date, our office will extend it out as a matter of policy. 

We continue to monitor the situation and are using the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 website as our main source of information. We likewise encourage you to reference the CDC's website for the most current information and guidance on COVID-19 coronavirus.
